Picking the right laptop skin size is the most important step before buying — a skin that is too large overhangs the lid edges, and one that is too small leaves gaps. The good news: measuring takes 30 seconds, and if your laptop is a popular Indian model, the size is probably already in the reference table below.

How to Measure Your Laptop Screen Size

Laptop screen sizes are measured diagonally — from the bottom-left corner of the screen to the top-right corner (or bottom-right to top-left). This diagonal measurement in inches is your screen size, and it is the number you use to order a skin.

  1. Open your laptop
  2. Place a measuring tape or ruler at the bottom-left corner of the screen (where the glass starts, not the bezel)
  3. Measure diagonally to the top-right corner of the screen
  4. Record the measurement in inches

If you only have a centimetre ruler: divide the cm measurement by 2.54 to convert to inches.

Important: Measure the screen (the glass/display area), not the whole laptop lid. The lid is larger than the screen — measuring the lid gives the wrong size.

What If My Laptop Isn't Listed?

Measure the screen diagonal as described above. If you are between sizes — for example, your screen measures 13.6" — go with the standard size that number falls into (13" in this case). Universal skins accommodate slight variations in laptop proportions within each size category.

You can also check your laptop's model number on the manufacturer's website — the screen size is always listed in the specifications. Search "[your model number] specifications" and find the display size.

Frequently Asked Questions

My laptop says 15.6" but the skin seems smaller than the lid. Is that normal?

Yes — the laptop lid is always larger than the screen because it includes the bezel (the border around the screen). A 15.6" skin is sized for the lid of a 15.6" screen laptop, not the screen itself. Universal skins are sized to cover the usable lid surface within the lid border, not the entire lid including edges.

Can I use the same skin on two different laptops if they have the same screen size?

A skin is designed for one application — reapplication after removal is not recommended as the adhesive loses significant strength. However, a 15.6" universal skin purchased for one laptop will work on any other 15.6" laptop if applied fresh. If you change laptops, order a new skin rather than reusing the removed one.
